When are you eligible for a partner residence permit?

If you live in the Netherlands with Dutch nationality or a residence permit, you may under certain conditions bring your partner to the Netherlands. This concerns a residence permit for stay with a partner or spouse. This applies to both married and unmarried partners with a demonstrably durable relationship.

Conditions for the partner residence permit

Valid travel document: you and your partner have a valid passport or other travel document.
Relationship: you are married, registered partners, or have a durable and exclusive relationship.
Age: both of you are 21 years or older (exceptions apply).
Living together: you will live together in the Netherlands and register at the same address.
Income: you meet the income requirements.
Sponsorship declaration: you declare yourself to be the sponsor and accept the associated responsibilities.
Tuberculosis test: your partner undergoes a TB test after arrival in the Netherlands, unless exempt.
Civic integration exam: your partner passes the basic civic integration exam abroad, unless exempt.
Public order: your partner poses no risk to public order or security and completes an antecedents declaration.
Nationality/residence permit: you have Dutch nationality or a valid residence permit.
